Our Priest in Charge, Reverend Elizabeth Breakey, was born in Scotland and has lived in Australia for over 20 years. Originally trained as a corrosion engineer, Elizabeth was ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church of Australia in 2013. By sheer luck of her surname, she had the honour of being the first woman to be ordained by a woman (Bishop Barbara Darling) in Australia.
Elizabeth was appointed to the Bellarine Gateway parish in 2015 and enjoys the challenge of caring for three churches in the one parish. In some ways, it reminds her of being a parent to her three children, ensuring that, despite their differences, each one knows they are loved and cared for equally.
When not dashing around the three parish churches and two op shops, being a scout leader, or a mum, Elizabeth enjoys working on her various ongoing craft projects whilst balancing a cup of coffee and at least one dog on her lap!
She is always up for a coffee and a chat if you give her a call.
